Deputies with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Criminal Investigations Division have arrested Baltimore Police Officer Daniel Oxendine after DNA evidence identified him as the suspect in the on-duty rape of an Edgewood woman.
The investigation began on June 3, 2026, when detectives responded to a local hospital to meet with an adult female in the emergency department who reported she had been sexually assaulted. As detectives worked through the initial details, they learned that Baltimore Police Officer Oxendine, who was on duty at the time, had encountered the victim while investigating an unrelated call for service, in Baltimore City. The victim told investigators she needed transportation to her home in Edgewood, and Oxendine’s supervisor authorized him to drive her there.
After arriving at the victim’s residence, Oxendine entered her apartment and sexually assaulted her. The Harford County Sheriff’s Office was called. The victim was transported to a hospital for a Sexual Assault Kit Exam, where forensic evidence, including DNA, was collected and preserved for analysis.
When DNA test results returned conclusively identifying Daniel Oxendine as the offender, detectives obtained an arrest warrant. On August 27, 2026, detectives located Oxendine with the assistance of the Baltimore Police Department and took him into custody without incident. He was transported to the Harford County Detention Center, where he is currently awaiting his initial court appearance.
Oxendine is charged with two counts of first-degree rape; two counts of second-degree rape; and two counts of a law enforcement officer engaging in a sexual act with a victim or witness of an investigation.
Based on information gathered thus far, detectives believe Oxendine may have committed similar offenses beyond the incident that led to his arrest. Investigators are working diligently to identify any additional incidents in which he may have been involved.
Detectives continue to review evidence, examine prior reports, and coordinate with partner agencies to determine whether other crimes may be connected.
