HOPE House

In the winter of 2015, Sheriff Gahler created the HOPE (Heroin Overdose Prevention Effort)  Workgroup and created partnerships between the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, the Harford County’s Office of Drug Control Policy, the Harford County, Narcotics Task Force, the Harford Sheriff Foundation, the Harford County Citizens’ Police Academy Alumni Association, and the Harford Fire and EMS Association.

On Friday, September 8, 2017, Sheriff Jeffrey R. Gahler was pleased to announce the unveiling of the H.O.P.E. House. The H.O.P.E. House is a mobile educational tool designed to raise awareness and inform parents of the warning signs of controlled dangerous substance use and/or abuse.

Inside, parents will learn about signs that may indicate a loved one is abusing heroin or other drugs. Community group organizers can call the Community Policing Unit of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office for more information on bringing the H.O.P.E. House to their event.
