Two Baltimore men are in custody in connection to an armed robbery that occurred early Saturday morning.
On January 6, 2024, at approximately 8:06 a.m., a Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop a white Volkswagen sedan, traveling at a high rate of speed, in the area of Route 152 and I-95. The Volkswagen failed to stop, initiating a pursuit. The deputy notified dispatch that the vehicle was occupied by two males wearing face masks. The brief pursuit ended safely with the Volkswagen stopping for the deputy in the area of Edgewood Road and Emmorton Park Road.
While in pursuit, at approximately 8:09 a.m., deputies received notification of an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Mystic Mart located in the 1700 block of Hanson Rd., in Edgewood. During the robbery, the suspects displayed a handgun and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of US currency and a black iPhone. The description of the suspect vehicle matched the one currently involved in the pursuit. Once the vehicle was stopped, three minutes later, Jayce Daimon Billips, 22 and Sede Kenyon Baker, 23, both of Baltimore, were identified as the occupants and were subsequently detained at the scene.
Additional deputies were dispatched to assist with the investigation and recovered a black iPhone, US currency, and controlled dangerous substances from the detained individuals. During a thorough canvas along the route of the pursuit, deputies located a small blue bookbag containing a handgun.
Billips and Baker were transported to the Southern Precinct where they were charged accordingly and transported to the Harford County Detention Center. At this time, they are both being held without bond, after an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
The investigation is ongoing, no further information will be released at this time. Anyone with information about this crime, or who may have video of the incident, is asked to contact the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.
