Fraud

Detectives are investigating a series of scamming incidents that are circulating right now and scaring people into believing their loved ones are in need of financial help!

On November 23 2021, deputies responded to the 2900 block of Kathleen Drive in Forest Hill for the report of a past theft. Upon arrival, deputies were informed earlier that day the victim received a phone call from a woman advising she was an attorney representing the victim’s son. The woman claimed the victim’s son was in jail for a “reckless accident” and needed to post several thousand dollars for bail.

After speaking with the woman, it was determined the victim should pay a lesser amount to get the son released from jail, and a courier by the name of Ryan Molena would come to the victim’s house to collect the money. That afternoon, a male came to the victim’s house to collect the money. He is described as a white male wearing a black windbreaker, black baseball hat, blue jeans, black shoes and a facemask.

Upon realizing this was a scam, the victim called the Sheriff’s Office to report the crime. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.
