Man Hospitalized Following Edgewood Shooting

[August 31, 2017, Edgewood, MD] Harford County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are seeking information regarding a shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon in Edgewood.

At approximately 2:15 p.m., deputies assigned to the Southern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Harr Park Court, and Cedar Drive in Edgewood for reports of shots fired. While enroute, patrol deputies were informed of a motor vehicle collision in close proximity to the shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located the motor vehicle collision. Inside one of the vehicles, deputies found an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the lower body. The male was transported by Maryland State Police Medivac helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he is currently in unknown condition.

While on scene, deputies received information an individual involved in the incident may be in a residence located in the 600 block of Harr Park Court. Out of an abundance of caution, deputies set up a perimeter and requested the assistance of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT). Deputies made contact with several youth that were inside the residence and safely removed them from the premises. Concerned that additional individuals were inside, deputies made several attempts to make contact with subjects that may still be in the residence. After several attempts at establishing contact, the SRT made entry at 6:59 p.m., and determined the residence was unoccupied.

As the incident evolved, Detectives from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded to assume the investigation. Investigators from the Forensic Services Unit responded to document the scene and collect evidence.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. There are no further details being released at this time.
