Sheriff Jeffrey R. Gahler is proud to announce the transfers of two Command leaders to new roles within our Agency. Earlier this fall, Major Lee Dunbar and Major Eric Gonzalez transitioned into key leadership positions that reflect our commitment to excellence, continuity of service, and the development of diverse leadership skills.
Major Lee Dunbar has assumed the role of Chief of the Police Operations Bureau. A dedicated member of the Sheriff’s Office since 1995, Major Dunbar now oversees Patrol and Special Operations, bringing decades of field experience and investigative insight to this vital Bureau.
Major Eric Gonzalez, who joined the agency in 2001, now serves as Chief of the Services and Support Bureau. In this role, he leads Community Policing initiatives, including School Policing and Animal Control, as well as Administrative Services and the Training Academy; ensuring our personnel are well-equipped to serve Harford County with professionalism and care.
Sheriff Gahler shared his enthusiasm for the transition, remarking, “Major Dunbar and Major Gonzalez each bring a wealth of experience, integrity, and leadership to their new assignments. Their dedication to public service and their ability to inspire those around them make this a powerful step forward for our Agency and the community we serve.”
This leadership change reflects our ongoing commitment to learning, growth, and delivering exceptional service to the residents of Harford County.
