HCSO Detectives Investigating Homicide

[August 17, 2015, Abingdon, MD] A search is underway for a suspect as Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies continue their investigation into the murder of a Baltimore man who was found on Wednesday afternoon in Abingdon, Md.

The victim is identified as Travis Harrell Best, 34, of the 100 block of Fuller Place, Baltimore. His body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

Shortly after 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, patrol deputies from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Southern Precinct responded to a 911 call reporting a decomposing human body that had been located in an area next to the Elks Lodge on Harford Boat Club Road. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division was requested to respond and take the lead on the investigation. Additional assistance is being provided by detectives from the Baltimore City and Baltimore County Police Departments. Harford County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Services detectives processed the scene for critical evidence. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
