Employee Injured in Belcamp Armed Robbery

[August 28, 2015 Belcamp, MD] Harford County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are currently seeking information from the public to assist in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with the armed robbery of a gas station that left an employee injured.

At approximately 1:46 p.m., on August 28, 2015, patrol deputies from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Southern Precinct and troopers from the Maryland State Police were called to the Sunoco in the 1300 block of Riverside Parkway in Belcamp for the report of an armed robbery. Arriving Patrol deputies and troopers searched the area with a Sheriff’s Office K9 unit and a Baltimore County Police helicopter with negative results.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division was requested to respond and take the lead on the investigation. Harford County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Services detectives processed the scene for critical evidence.

The preliminary investigation into the incident indicates the suspect entered the store and displayed a handgun while demanding money. The suspect assaulted an employee with the handgun and a struggle ensued, injuring the store employee. The victim was transported by Maryland State Police helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment. No other injuries were reported.

The suspect has been described as a black male, wearing plaid shorts, a black shirt, and a baseball cap. Anyone with information regarding the crime is asked to call Detective Christopher Sergent at 410-836-5428. If the information you provide leads to the arrest and indictment of the individuals responsible for this crime, you may be eligible for a cash reward up to $2,000.00.
