Detectives Investigating Homicide Following Discovery of Decomposing Body

[August 3, 2018, Aberdeen, MD] Harford County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are seeking information regarding a homicide, after a decomposing body was discovered in Aberdeen.

On May 7, 2018, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Deputies assigned to the Southern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Spesutia Road at Cranberry Road for the report of an unattended death. Upon arrival, deputies were informed two individuals walking in the area located a body under a bridge. The body was in an advanced stage of decomposition.

The investigation was assumed by Detectives from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division. Investigators from the Forensic Services Unit responded to the area to collect and preserve physical evidence in support of the investigation.

The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) for autopsy. The victim was subsequently identified as Charlie Lee Roberts III, who was homeless. On August 2, 2018, the OCME ruled Roberts’ death a homicide. His family last had contact with him on March 4, 2018.
