Detectives Investigate Non-Fatal Stabbing

A man is recovering and detectives are investigating, following a stabbing in Edgewood Saturday night.

On June 15, 2019, at approximately 9:47 p.m., deputies assigned to the Southern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, deputies were informed the assault occurred in the 500 block of Crownwood Court in Edgewood. Following the assault, family members transported the adult male victim, identified as Derik William Jackson, 28 of Owings Mills, to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. Jackson was then transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for further treatment. At this time his injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

The investigation was assumed by detectives from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division. Investigators from the Forensic Services Unit responded to the hospital, and the 500 block of Crownwood Court, to collect and preserve physical evidence in support of the investigation.

The initial investigation indicates this was a targeted assault that occurred following an altercation involving multiple individuals at the location in the 500 block of Crownwood Court. Following the altercation, Jackson realized he was seriously injured and was transported to the hospital. The suspect fled the scene.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. No further details being released at this time.
