Deputies Investigate Fatal Crash

[May 31, 2019, Dublin, MD] A Joppa teen is dead after a single vehicle crash early Friday morning in Harford County.

On May 31, 2019, at approximately 1:35 a.m., deputies assigned to the Northern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene of a single vehicle on Poole Road, in the area of Cedar Church Road.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe overturned in the northbound lane of Poole Road. The occupant of the vehicle, identified as Jordan Fredrick Maughan, 19, of Joppa, was declared deceased on scene, shortly after deputies’ arrival. The driver, identified as Damien Alec Myers, 28, of Havre de Grace, was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview for treatment of his injuries.

Preliminary information gathered at the scene indicates Myers was traveling southbound on Poole Road when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, striking a tree, before coming to rest on the driver’s side of the vehicle, in the roadway.
Deputies assigned to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team responded to the scene to assume the investigation into the cause and circumstances of the crash.

Preliminary evidence suggests alcohol and speed were contributing factors. The investigation is active and ongoing. No further information will be released at this time.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit at 443-409-3324.
