Arrest Made in Non-Fatal Shooting

An Edgewood man is in custody after being charged in a July 2, 2023, non-fatal shooting in Edgewood.

Investigative efforts by the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, determined, on July 2, 2023, William Thomas Geary Jr., 20, was involved in an altercation with Umi Tor Adams, 24, of Edgewood. The altercation occurred in the area of Candlewood Dr. and Candlewood Ct. in Edgewood and quickly escalated leading to Geary being shot in the upper body.

On July 2, 2023, Deputies from the Southern Precinct, discovered Geary suffering from a gunshot wound in the upper body and began life saving measures until medics arrived and took over emergency care. Geary was transported by Harford County Department of Emergency Services ambulance to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

As the investigation continued, Adams was developed as the suspect and on July 3, 2023, an arrest warrant was obtained by detectives charging Adams with attempted 1st degree murder. Deputies assigned to the Warrant Apprehension Unit took Williams into custody in Harford County on July 10, 2023, without incident.

Adams was transported to the Harford County Detention Center where he is awaiting an initial appearance before a district court commissioner for his charges.
