Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting

A man is in custody after being charged in the February 17, 2024, fatal shooting at D&M’s Deck Tiki Bar and Grill in Edgewood.

On Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 12:08 a.m., deputies assigned to the Southern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2200 block of Pulaski Highway in Edgewood for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located a male victim, identified as Dajuan Kyree Simmons, 24, of Aberdeen, inside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Deputies immediately began life-saving efforts on Simmons. Medics from the Harford County Department of Emergency Services took over emergency care upon their arrival. Despite life-saving efforts, Simmons succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased shortly after arrival at the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.
Detectives from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division developed information identifying Parrise Marcellous Valentine, 33, of Aberdeen, as the person responsible for shooting Simmons. On Sunday, February 18, 2024, an arrest warrant was obtained by detectives for Valentine charging him with 2nd degree murder, 1st and 2nd degree assault as well as other crimes associated with the murder. The investigation led detectives to Philadelphia, where Valentine was subsequently located. On the afternoon of Monday, February 19, 2024, Detectives and Tactical officers with the Philadelphia Police Department took Valentine into custody without incident. He is currently awaiting extradition to Harford County.

Sheriff Gahler stated, “We’re grateful for the support of our community, as well as the assistance from our federal and allied law enforcement partners and the Office of the State’s Attorney for Harford County, who provided assistance to our detectives helping bring this case to a timely conclusion.” Further, Sheriff Gahler wants to assure the community this was not a random crime, that the parties involved were known to each other, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

While an arrest has been made, Sheriff’s detectives are continuing their investigation. No further information is being released at this time.
