A 41-year-old man is in custody after being charged in yesterday evening’s shooting in Abingdon.
On Monday, November 4, 2024, at approximately 4:05 p.m., deputies assigned to the Southern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 3500 block of Woodsdale Rd in Abingdon for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Eric Chi Fonong Igwacho, 27, of Bel Air, suffering a gunshot wound to the lower body. Deputies immediately rendered first aid until medics arrived. Igwacho was subsequently transported to a local trauma center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation was assumed by detectives with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. Deputies from the Forensic Services Unit as well as the K9 and Drone Units responded to assist. Through investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect, Justin Matthew Schlotterbeck, 41, of Aberdeen. An arrest warrant was obtained by detectives charging Schlotterbeck with attempted 1st degree murder and other charges related to the shooting. Deputies were able to locate Schlotterbeck inside his vehicle parked in front of his residence. He was taken into custody without incident. During a search of the suspect vehicle, Detectives located and seized a handgun that had been disassembled. Schlotterbeck was transported to the Harford County Detention Center where he is being held without bond. While motive of the shooting remains under investigation, it is believed that the two parties were known to one another.
