Deputies in the Community

Deputy Tyler Dailey

January 14, 2021

Every so often, we get messages from people like you, who have such a positive interaction with our Deputies, they have to share it.

This week, we were sent a wonderful message from Jessica about a Deputy. Jessica was stuck on the side of 136 in Whiteford. She wasn’t sure who the Deputy was, but we were able to determine it was Deputy Tyler Dailey.

“Dear officer,
You passed us as we were stopped on the shoulder. You turned around and asked if we were ok (Our daughter (18 mo) had gotten carsick and vomited). Once you understood why we were stopped on such a busy road, you asked if we needed wipes to clean her up. I had wipes but mentioned I was worried about not knowing where we could stay pulled over safely and not get hit. You see, we were a little lost and unfamiliar with that area.

I was so nervous being out on that road, I forgot to get your name to say thank you. I was only thinking of getting our daughter home and so I “waved thanks” — not nearly enough for what you did. Not only did you take the time to stop, but you also offered wipes, pulled behind us with your lights on to keep us safe, then merged first into traffic so we could pull safely away from the shoulder.

Some may say this is your job, but you didn’t have to take your time to help. You could have asked if we were ok then drove on. You had a smile and your presence was a comfort to us in a stressful moment.

Sir, to you we say THANK YOU!! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for stopping and staying with us. Thank you for waking each day determined to help others and keep us safe. The world we live in is a crazy place, with violence or distrust directed toward our first responders. Stories like these need to be shared to change perspective. You all risk your lives for us and don’t get enough praise.

I hope one day I see you in person so I can shake your hand and say thanks in person. May you be safe all your days.
Sincerely,
Jessica”

Annual Christmas Drive

January 9, 2021

Thank you Harford County!

2020 was a tough year for so many people, and we saw a 23% increase in families needing help from our Annual Christmas Drive. But for the 38th year, Harford County came through and we were able to help 110 families consisting of 325 children!

We could not have done this without your help! We’d especially like to thank Thompson Toyota, Klein’s Shope Rite, Fallston Middle School, Jones Toyota, Rock Spring Swim Club, Harford County Public Schools Transportation, Harford County Government Retirees, Madonna AARP Chapter 883, Joppatowne Women’s Club, Karen Tracy and James Lacroix, Jr., New Beginnings COG, and everyone who donated this year!

The holiday spirit was certainly alive in Harford County this year! Thank you to everyone who helped our 37th annual Christmas Drive!

Thanks to your generosity, we were able to help more than 100 families this holiday season with gifts for children, and canned food items!

Without donations from citizens, and businesses, we couldn’t have been able to help so many in need!

Thank you!

Santa?

December 19, 2019

Is that Santa? Or do we spy North Harford High School School Resource Officer Eric Blottenberger in there?!

For the past couple years, Santa/SRO Blottenberger, along with Elf Wilma (Harford County Public Schools School Custodian) dress up and visit with the youngsters in the preschool program at the school!

Elf Wilma has been doing this for years, and even made her Elf suit herself!

On Friday the students at Church Creek Elementary School had Christmas Cards ready for their SRO to share with all the deputies of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office!

This week, scouts with Cub Scout Pack 830, gave Senior Deputies Wil Adams and Nick McGowan 100 goody bags filled with candy to show their appreciation to local first responders. They also had bags on hand for the Bel Air Police Department and Bel Air Fire Department!
