Harford County Sheriff’s Office is seeking to establish an eligibility list for the position of Deputy Sheriff-Lateral transfer, with responsibility for delivering law enforcement service throughout Harford County.

This position requires that you are currently a certified police officer in the state of Maryland holding valid certification or currently a certified police officer in another state holding valid certification and eligible to transfer and complete a comparative compliance program approved by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions.  THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY LEVEL POSITION.

POSITION IS ENTITLED TO A $10,000 RECRUITMENT BONUS UPON HIRING AND COMPLETION OF FIELD TRAINING PROGRAM (pending funding availability).

The Law Enforcement Deputy position has opportunities for overtime, compensatory time, holiday pay, shift differential for evening and midnight shifts and uniform allowance.

Posted salary is proposed for July 1, 2025 and pending budget approval.
