Start Your Career with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office is hosting two Open Applicant Testing dates for individuals interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement. These events are designed to streamline the application process by allowing applicants to complete multiple steps in a single day as we select recruits for our next law enforcement academy beginning this October.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Complete an Application
  • Participate in Physical Fitness Testing 
  • Complete the Written Examination (for those who pass the physical fitness test)

This is a limited opportunity to move through the process faster and take the next step toward a rewarding career serving the Harford County community as a law enforcement deputy.

Open Testing Dates: 

Wednesday, June 3rd  | 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Applicants may arrive at the Bel Air High School track anytime between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, June 6th | 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Applicants may arrive at the Bel Air High School track anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

Event Details:

Applicants can arrive at the Bel Air High School track anytime between the posted times for their desired date. Late arrivals will not be permitted to test.

Qualified applicants who successfully complete the physical fitness test will then transport themselves to the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters, located less than a mile from the Bel Air High School at 45 S. Main Street Bel Air, MD, to complete the written examination.

Candidates who successfully pass the written examination will move forward in the hiring process. Applicants should plan for the entire process to take approximately 3 hours.

  • A valid government-issued photo ID
  • Athletic clothing and running shoes suitable for fitness testing
  • Water
