UPDATE – Suspect Dead in Edgewood Home Invasion, Second Suspect in Custody

[September 25, 2015, Edgewood, MD] On September 24, 2015, Harford County Sheriff’s Office Detectives made an arrest of a second suspect in connection with a home invasion that resulted in the shooting death of a suspect.

The suspect, identified as Robert Jay Smith, age 30 from Bel Air, MD, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Harford County Detention Center where he was charged in connection to the home invasion and shooting death of Javon Langston that occurred on Sunday, September 20.

Shortly after 11:00 p.m., on Sunday, Deputies from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Southern Precinct responded to a call for a shooting at a residence located in the 2500 block of Thornberry Drive, in Edgewood. Responding deputies found the victim lying inside the home with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The male was pronounced dead on the scene. The preliminary investigation indicated two male suspects entered the home and were confronted by a resident. During the confrontation, several shots were fired. One of the suspects, identified as Langston, with a last known address of the 4800 block of Atlas Cedar Way, in Aberdeen, was struck by the gunfire and killed. The other suspect Smith, fled the scene.
