One Arrested for Aberdeen Shooting; Second Suspect Sought

[September 27, 2017, Aberdeen, MD] A man is recovering and two other men are charged after a shooting Monday afternoon in Aberdeen.

At approximately 4:50 p.m., deputies assigned to the Southern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to 200 block of Mayberry Drive in Aberdeen for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male victim, identified as Climesto Jay Coley, 43 of Aberdeen, on the ground in the area suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. Deputies began treating Coley for his injuries until medics from the Aberdeen Volunteer Fire Company transported Coley was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he was treated for his injuries and released.

While on scene, deputies received information that two other individuals were involved in the incident. At that time, detectives from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division were requested to assume the investigation. Investigators from the Forensic Services Unit responded to document the scene and collect evidence.

Preliminary investigation reveals Coley and another adult male became involved in a verbal altercation that escalated and the suspect shot Coley. A second suspect was with the shooter. Through investigation, information was obtained and one of the suspects was identified as Javan Pierre Moore, 30 of Edgewood. Information regarding his identity was distributed to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, and he was quickly apprehended and transported to CID for questioning. After being interviewed by Sheriff’s Office detectives, Moore was charged with attempted first degree murder and first degree assault. He was transported to the Harford County Detention Center where he is being held without bail. Deputies are still attempting to locate the second suspect involved in the shooting. That individual is identified as Matthew Leon Moorehead, 21 of Aberdeen. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. There are no further details being released at this time.
