Stolen Vehicle/Attempted Carjacking/Assault on Police

On February 15, 2018, at approximately 5:43 pm, deputies assigned to the Northern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call for a reported stolen vehicle.

The suspect, a 33 year old female from Baltimore, was walking along Ridgeview Road in Jarrettsville, when she entered a 2004 Isuzu truck parked, with the keys in the ignition. The suspect entered the unattended vehicle and drove to Pleasantville Road where she ran another vehicle off the roadway before exiting the stolen truck and attempting to coerce the driver of the second vehicle away, in an attempt to steal the second vehicle. Her attempt was unsuccessful and the suspect returned to the stolen truck and drove away.

While driving on Rt 23, the suspect encountered a Harford County Sheriff’s Deputy and Maryland State Police Trooper who activated their emergency lights and attempted to stop the stolen truck. When the suspect failed to stop, a pursuit began and turned onto Rt 24. At this time, the suspect intentionally struck the patrol vehicle of a responding patrol deputy, causing him to be trapped in the vehicle. The suspect failed to stop after striking the deputy’s patrol vehicle and the pursuit of the stolen truck continued onto the Bel Air By-Pass before coming to an end at the Winters Run Bridge. The suspect exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division have assumed the investigation. The suspect was transported to the Harford County Detention Center to await charging and processing. The deputy involved in the crash was transported to Upper Chesapeake Hospital for treatment of minor injuries
