Detectives are investigating a shooting that left two people shot, one in critical condition.
On Sunday, July 6, 2025, at approximately 10:50 p.m., deputies assigned to the Southern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) were dispatched to the 1600 block of Candlewood Court in Edgewood for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Malandra Respass, a 24-year-old female, and Daquan Futrell, a 23-year-old male, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies immediately began life saving efforts; and both victims were taken by Emergency Medical Services to area hospitals. Respass was listed in stable condition and Futrell was listed in critical condition.
The investigation was assumed by detectives with the HCSO Criminal Investigations Division.
Investigators from the Forensic Services Unit also responded to assist. Through investigation, detectives were able to determine that Futrell was in a physical altercation with another male. During that altercation, an unknown individual produced a firearm and shot both victims. While the motive remains under investigation, it is believed that all parties involved are known to each other and the shooting was not random.
After the shooting occurred, multiple social media posts were made, inaccurately claiming this incident was an active shooter incident. In the event of an incident occurring that is a threat to public safety, the HCSO is the most reliable and official way that the public would be notified. Please remember that the only confirmed information is what is released by the HCSO.
