Two Suspects in Custody For 2019 Murder of Food Delivery Driver

Two Harford County men are in custody, following an indictment by a Harford County Grand Jury for the February 10, 2019, murder of food delivery driver Timothy Wayne Youngquist in Edgewood.

On February 10, 2019, at approximately 8:30 p.m., patrol deputies assigned to the Southern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 700 block of Monticello Court in Edgewood for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located 34-year-old Timothy Wayne Youngquist suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies immediately began life saving measures in an attempt to save Youngquist’s life. Medics with the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company took over emergency care and transported Youngquist to the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Information gathered at the time of the incident indicated Youngquist was working in the area as a food delivery driver when he was shot in an apparent robbery.
Detectives with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division partnered with Special Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Baltimore Field Division and Investigators from the Maryland State Police to advance the investigation over the course of three years. Based on information gleaned during an ongoing federal investigation, suspects were identified in connection to the murder.

On March 1, 2022, prosecutors from the Harford County State’s Attorney’s Office presented evidence to a Grand Jury, which resulted in the indictments of Jabrell Jayon Brodie, 20, of Joppa, and Jaquan James Rashard Northan, 21, of Joppa on charges of first- and second-degree murder, manslaughter, attempted armed carjacking, attempted carjacking, armed robbery, robbery, conspiracy to commit armed carjacking, conspiracy to commit carjacking and firearms use in commission of a felony. Harford County State’s Attorney, Albert J. Peisinger, Jr. also requested warrants be issued for their arrest.

Deputies assigned to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Apprehension Unit took Northan into custody without incident on Tuesday, March 1. They took Brodie into custody without incident on Thursday, March 3. Both are being held at the Harford County Detention Center without bail.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office praised the joint efforts of all the allied agencies who assisted in this investigation, including the Maryland State Police, the Harford County State’s Attorney’s Office, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Baltimore Field Division, and the United States Attorney for the District of Maryland.
