Sheriff Gahler Announces New Command Staff at Harford County Detention Center

Earlier this year, we announced the appointment of Daniel Galbraith as Warden of the Harford County Detention Center. In addition to Warden Galbraith, Sheriff Gahler has made three more appointments to round out the Command Staff.

In July, Michael Siler was appointed to the rank of Major, where he will serve as Assistant Warden and Chief of the Correctional Services Bureau. Major Siler joined the Sheriff’s Office in 1991 and has held multiple positions at the Detention Center including Security Supervisor, Inter-Agency Processing Center Supervisor, Transportation Unit Supervisor, Chief of Security and Transition Coordinator for the 2011 expansion of the Detention Center. Major Siler was also a member of the Crisis Negotiation Team for ten years. He was promoted to Captain in August 2013 and spent time overseeing both Detention Center Divisions (Security Operations and Support Operations).
In February, Wayne Rumsey was promoted to the rank of Captain and is currently the Support Division Commander. Captain Rumsey joined the Sheriff’s Office in 1997. Since joining the Sheriff’s Office he has served as a Security Supervisor, Inter-Agency Processing Center Supervisor and Correctional Response Team Leader. He was also a Transitional Team Member for the 2011 expansion at the Detention Center.

In July, Johnathan Jenkins was promoted to the rank of Captain, and is currently the Operations Division Commander. Captain Jenkins joined the Sheriff’s Office in 2006. Captain Jenkins has held multiple positions during his career at the Detention Center. He has served as a Security Supervisor, Transportation Unit Supervisor, Chief of Security, and Team Leader of the Correctional Response Team. Captain Jenkins has also served on the Crisis Negotiation Team, served as a Drill Instructor, TASER Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Firearms Instructor and Recruitment Team Coordinator.

These appointments were made after Major Michael Gullion and Captain Kevin Walker retired, after having served the citizens of Harford County for their entire career. We thank them for their service to the Agency and the community.
