Suspicious Death Now Ruled a Homicide

[April 22, 2013, Edgewood, MD] — The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled the death of Robert Wesley Johns, 51, of the 1700 block of Fountain Rock Way, a homicide. Johns died as the result of a gunshot wound. Detectives would not release any further information.

Johns was found deceased in his apartment April 21st after deputies were called there at 9:30 am Sunday morning to check on his well-being. Upon checking the home they found it locked but could hear a TV playing inside. No one answered the door. Deputies then observed blood on the door and as they searched further they observed a person on the floor inside. They subsequently forced entry and found the body of Johns on the floor of his home. The house appeared to be ransacked.

Detectives are continuing their investigation and are asking for the public's help. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Chris Sergent at 410-836-5428. Those who wish to remain anonymous may report their information via the Sheriff's Office through Qualifying tips submitted that lead to a conviction may be eligible for up to $2,000.00 in rewards.
