The Task Force is responsible for the investigation of crimes involving vice and narcotics. The Task Force is multi-jurisdictional and comprised of members of the Harford County Sheriff's Office, Maryland State Police, Aberdeen Police Department, Bel Air Police Department, Havre de Grace Police Department and the Harford County States Attorneys Office. The Task Force attacks all levels of narcotics distribution from the street level drug dealer to major drug violators. The Task Force also actively works on interdicting drugs and drug dealers in our hotels/motels/bus and train stations.
One member of the Task Force is assigned to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and works with federal jurisdiction. Task Force members not serving in an undercover capacity visit schools and community groups in an effort to educate students on the dangers of drugs. Members of the unit also instruct other police officers during In-service and Entrance Level Training in narcotics investigations.
Members of the Task Force are also responsible for investigating prostitution, gambling, and other crimes of immoral conduct. Covert deputies also frequently assist other units in the Sheriff's Office as well as allied agencies with special surveillance details. The Task Force also has a financial investigator that assists the detectives in their investigations.
